The final project for the DataQuest class taught the students how to use the photo editing tool, Pixlr (pixlr.com). It's a free tool that is similar to Photoshop. Their assignment was to imagine what they wanted to do or be or a place they wanted to visit. There were no limitations...not money, not time not even reality. They could jump into their favorite book, movie, or game. They could be world travelers or famous sports stars. They could be anything their imagination could think up. Then they had to find a background that would help tell the story of their dreamscape. Each student has his or her picture taken in front of the green screen then they had to put themselves into their background and add three other items that would further tell their story. If we'd had time, we would have written short stories to go with our pictures! Below are the results of this project. We hope you enjoy our pictures. (Ms. Knott created the banner and included her dreamscape picture and story)
I’m dreaming, I thought as I rubbed sleep from my eyes. I looked around again; huh, the stone walls and floor were still there! I crawled out of the feathery soft bed, (definitely not my own lumpy mattress I had fallen asleep on) and padded over to the window. It was arched with heavy wooden shutters, which I unlatched and pulled open The courtyard below was a flurry of early morning activity. young boys were craying buckets of water, walking carefully in their knee breeches? The women wore woolen dresses with huge skirts that bugled out on both sides. The men were dressed in (sigh) kilts. I starred dreamily thinking how stunningly handsome they looked
A knock at the door whirled me around as if caught doing something I shouldn’t. Face several shades of red, I opened the door to find the man I’d been in love with for more than 20 years but had never actually met; Jamie Frasier in the flesh. Please, I begged the sandman, DON’T let me wake up now |
